March 21, 2013 – Universal Instruments will display its comprehensive portfolio of solutions building blocks at the 2014 IPC APEX EXPO held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas, NV on March 25 – 27. On booth 1125, the company will feature surface mount, odd-form, through-hole, and automation platform technologies, as well as advanced process expertise to meet a full range of electronics assembly challenges.

Two models from Universal’s flagship Fuzion® Platform lineup will be on the booth. The Fuzion1-30 is a superb high-speed line booster or a flexible solution for higher mix environments, and will feature the latest Fuzion software with enhanced ease-of-use and utilization tools. The new FuzionOF™ is the industry’s fastest and most versatile high-speed automation platform, handling a diverse range of pin-in-paste odd-form, surface mount odd-form, standard surface mount, and semiconductor applications.
In addition, Universal will introduce the new Radial 88HT 3.5mm radial component sequencer and inserter with 2.5/3.5/5.0mm triple-span tooling. The Radial 88HT automates the insertion of tape-packaged radial components faster and more reliably than manual processes. For end-of-line processes, the Radial 88HT leverages a programmable insertion head and clinch to avoid damaging surface mount components.
Universal’s Polaris Assembly Cell will also be on display. Polaris provides flexible automation for a wide range of complex front- and back-end processes on a standard platform to help manufacturers improve output and yield, while realizing a faster ROI. Polaris automates a variety of assembly processes, including pick and place for large and complex devices, dispensing, bar code reading, vision, screw driving, and labeling.
